about us...

Oatley Flora and Fauna Society (O.F.F) was formed in 1955 by local residents concerned about the vandalism of flora and fauna in Oatley Park, a bush land reserve in Sydney, metropolitan area.

Over the years the area of interest has expanded and the primary aims of the Society are to stimulate interest in Australian flora and fauna; foster an understanding of the need to conserve natural environment and cooperate with other organisations in protecting the environment.

O.F.F holds regular walks and monthly meetings with guest speakers. Currently the Society has over 350 members from around 165 families. Members receive the Society's monthly newsletter, O.F.F. News.

O.F.F. has a good working relationship with both Hurstville and Kogarah Councils and has representation on Hurstville Councils Tree Preservation Working Party Committee and Kogarah Council's Estuary Management Committee. O.F.F. also participates in the annual Clean-up Australia Campaign.

In the past years O.F.F. has been successful in obtaining the bush land regeneration grants from the NSW Environment Protection Authority, and three bush land areas in the suburb of Oatley Have been vastly improved. O.F.F also secured a Coast Care grant to help Kogarah Council and the local community in their efforts to regenerate the wetlands of Poulton Park in South Hurstville.

When necessary O.F.F. makes representation to Members of Parliament and relevant organisations important environmental issues whether they are Local, State or Federal.

O.F.F. is a flourishing local organisation and welcomes new members and visitors.
